I love the Fall weather and the fun holidays that it brings with it. Halloween gives us all an opportunity to have a little fun and dress up as our favorite character, monster or animal.
In our society today, if you can dream it up, you can make it up! So, I have come up with a list of 15 possible costumes to help you create your very own Halloween costume and save money on the more expensive, pre-made ones!
Mummy Makeup
So if you are feeling like you really want to commit to a serious scary costume this year, Martha Stewart has the recipe for Mummy Makeup down to a science. This will take awhile to create but is well worth the time you spend. I would suggest that you have someone to help you get ready. This creates such an amazing ugly skin texture that i think you will be voted best costume.
Sunny Side Up Egg
This is simple but adorable. It is listed as a maternity costume but I think anyone could wear it. it is made so that the yellow yoke of the egg is on your the belly but I do not think you have to be pregnant to wear it. Either way it is original, creative and simple.White leggings, a white mini dress, yellow felt for the yolk and the yellow wig tops it all off. It is simple but fun, and was created by brit co.
DIY Birthday Cake
I think dressing up as piece of Birthday Cake will always make you the hit of the party. This is colorful, festive and requires a lot of cutting and gluing. This costume is easy to put on and wear at the party, however if you want to sit you will need to slide it off. This design looks like a funfetti cake and checkout the DIY shoes to match. Jelly Fish Halloween Costume
This costume is really creative and the fact that it lights up with LED lights takes it to the next level. This utilizes a dome umbrella as the body of the jellyfish, wired and curly ribbon as the tentacles and then the LED lights to illuminate the whole costume. As an extra they decided to add eyes on the umbrella but they are optional. Sesame Street Yip Yip Martians
This costume is great fun and easy to make. Colorful sheets, styrofoam eyes, pipe cleaner antenna and a black mesh mouth make this a fun blast of memories. In the directions they purchase material at the fabric store instead of sheets. I would price this out and decide for yourself. The black mesh mouth allows you to see where you are going, it also allows you to dress for the weather underneath the costume. This is a fun costume for an individual or a couple. The Cat in the Hat
The Cat in the Hat is a universal sign for fun and mischief and isn’t that what Halloween is all about!? I love this costume because it is fun and any gender can wear it. It is easy to find the hat if you want to purchase it but I chose to make it and the directions are very clear. Then a black jumpsuit purchased at the local thrift shop or a black suit will work well as the main part of the costume. Add a white shirt underneath for the bib and a red bowtie or use red ribbon to make a tie.White gloves and black shoes pull this costume all together, purchase a tail to add on add the local costume shop. I found a tail for two dollars. There are many tutorials online to show you how to do the face makeup to match. This costume is by ehow.
Rain Cloud Costume
This costume is fun and easy to make. If you want to make yourself into a Rain Cloud it is easy with a few supplies. Startout with a brimmed hat from the dollar store. It can be a big sombrero type hat but really a brimmed hat will work. You will need spray adhesive glue and polyester batting to make the fluffy cloud part glued to the hat. Add blue felt raindrops to hang on some blue yarn and you are ready to move. The all black clothing and rain boots is a great finishing

Jelly Belly Bag
Easy enough to dress up like a bag of your favorite jelly beans. A clear trash bag fitted to your body and filled with blown up balloons either in your favorite flavor or a mixed bag. This bright yellow Heart Smile Emoticon Costume is a breath of fresh air at any Halloween party. So many people are trying to dress scary or trendy and this is just simple fun. I am sure there is a person in your life who loves Star Wars. What better Halloween costume then a Storm Trooper Milk Jug Helmet. This is an easy follow the steps guide to cutting pieces of a plastic milk jug into the correct shapes and gluing it together. Minnie Mouse
This is for that person that wants to dress up for Halloween but still look cute. A red tutu and minnie mouse ears is about enough to finish this up. I would pair black tights or leggings with this outfit. Then a black bodysuit and glue some polka dots or tape the dots on to the tutu. Finish it with white shoes and finished! Hey a throwback to the 90’s movie era. This simple Forrest Gump costume is easy to put together and if you have a beard it is a plus. Donut Costume
I love the idea of using an inner tube and spray paint to create a Donut Costume. This creation by Studiodiy also utilizes foam curlers spray painted different colors to represent sprinkles. This costume is fun to create. All you have to do it pick your favorite type of donut and paint the layers. Popeye and Olive Oyl
A couples costume can be so much fun and who better that a hero like Popeye and his best girl Olive Oyl. The fake blow up muscles add to the popeye outfit of blue paints, black tee, red scarf around the neck, sailors hat, yellow belt and of course the canned spinach.
