From lemons to eggs to baking soda, these unusual beauty hacks can save you a ton of money!
Any guesses as to what I’m doing?
No, I’m not constipated, frustrated, or trying to be seductive…and no I haven’t lost my mind… yet…
Here’s a hint: Today we’re all about beauty hacks, tips, and secrets for less….
Give up? I’m doing “Facial Yoga”. What is facial yoga you might ask? Keep reading to find this and other beauty hacks to keep us looking young and oh-so-beautiful.
Confession time: I am not one for beauty rituals or committing to an expensive beauty regime. When I was young and dumb, I never washed my face. I always just used water in the shower because it seemed to do the trick, and honestly, I thought my body and skin were invincible (I know so dumb). Well, those years of beauty neglect, sleepless nights, and two kids later are all coming back to haunt me! I did some searching and what I learned is that beauty does not have to cost a lot, and can be done naturally with many products you may already have on hand!
Food for Thought? Food for Beauty?
Coconut oil, citrus fruits, eggs, bananas, honey, baking soda, apple cider vinegar, this is no commissary list (although these are regulars on mine) These are all ingredients that can be used to beautify our skin. I could be here all day listing the many items that are a must have for beauty but I will only go into a few: coconut oil, honey, lemons and baking soda. I discovered coconut oil about three years ago…. this stuff is amazing, what can’t it do? It can be used as lotion, it is a great moisturizer and lip balm, as well as a deodorizer, shaving lotion…the amazing list of coconut oil goes on.
Not to mention they make an awesome substitute for butter in these amazing coconut oil chocolate chip cookies. Your mind will be blown. Trust me. Sorry, I got carried away there,
Point is, if you don’t have coconut oil, you need to go get some… now!!
Many more kitchen ingredients can be used in other things that are great, like honey! Not only is honey sweet and simple but it can also make a great mask and like coconut oil has antibacterial properties and can help with pesky acne. Honey is also a great alternative to sugar and helps soothe sore throats, another must have in my book .
Age spots an issue? Or wanting natural and free highlights??!? Buy some lemons, they act as a natural lightener. Just apply to age spots and spritz some watered down lemon onto hair and go catch some rays, and watch those spots fade away.
Eggs have so many health benefits especially when eaten, but did you know they can also take part in your beauty routine? Puffy morning eyes?!? How about some eggs? Raw egg whites, that is! Apply to eyes leave on for ten minutes, wipe off and bags be gone!
We all have it, and surprisingly it can come in handy! Here are some ways baking soda can be added into your beauty routine. Who knew it could be used as a dry shampoo, deodorizer and a facial scrub? Want to whiten teeth naturally? Grab a brush add some baking soda and scrub, scrub, scrub! Speaking of scrub…..
“No, I don’t want no scrub…….”
Well, maybe I do….
I have been hearing about this new thing called dry brushing, apparently, it’s all the rage and supposedly it has many health benefits and keeps skin looking nice and fresh. I just bought one for few dollars, and plan to follow these step by step instructions to a more glowing and healthy body… I’ll let y’all know how it goes!

And now back the Facial yoga…. I love yoga, so when I came across this article I was intrigued! Yoga for your face?!? Yes, please! Warning, as you saw in the pictures above, you may look like a complete goofball doing it and may want to refrain from doing this in public. However, anything that may help relieve tension in the face, help maintain a younger looking face and omit that pesky double chin…. ummm, yes!! I have only started trying my facial yoga routine a few times, while I may not notice any significant changes yet, I do notice it does relieve tension and stress in my face and feels good. Plus, I also get a good chuckle out of it too…which doesn’t hurt because laughter is truly the best medicine!
